My Song and Hetairos approaching finishing of Race 3 – St. Barths Bucket 2019

Gustavia (March 24, 2019) – On the final day of racing at the St. Barths Bucket, Reichel/Pugh Superyachts My Song and Hetairos took first and second place. Hetairos’ win in the first race of the regatta was a good omen as she went on to earn the overall Bucket for winning within the most competitive class. John Reichel raced on a different R/P design each day: Nilaya, Hetairos and Visione, with partner Jim Pugh sailing on the My Song.

My Song

Baltic Yachts built 130’ MY SONG, with naval architecture and engineering by Reichel/Pugh with a spectacular exterior and interior design by Milan based Nauta Yachts sailed up through the ranks in the St. Barths Bucket “Les Gazelles des Mers” class, with 4th, 2nd, 1st places in the three races, missing overall victory by just one point. Had she placed 3rd instead of 4th in the first race, MY SONG would have been overall winner. MY SONG, launched in 2017, is currently Nauta’s and Reichel/Pugh’s sailing yacht flagship. A spectacular lightweight carbon composite construction, this blue-water thoroughbred sets a new and very high standard for her combination of performance, comfort and style. My Song was awarded “Most Innovative Yacht of the Year” and “Sailing Yacht of the Year” at the 2017 World Superyacht Awards. My Song set a new course record for the 2018 RORC Transatlantic last year.

The 220’ Hetairos, with naval architecture by Reichel/Pugh is considered the world’s most spectacular ketch, winning a judges’ special award during the 2012 World Superyacht Awards for the “Notable contribution to the technical advancement of sailing superyachts”.  The sailing yacht Hetairos is an astonishing cutting-edge ketch that is both innovative and retrospective, were carbon meets traditional.  Hetairos took line honors in the 2011 Transatlantic Race from Tenerife to Virgin Gorda, at an average speed of 15.12 knots.

2015 Bucket Regatta: A Fine Ending To A Grand Event

March 22, 2015 · Posted by kate

StBarthsBucket_NoDateSt Barths, French West Indies (March 22, 2015) – Perseverance was the key to victory in four classes (Gazelles, Elegantes, Mademoiselles, Grande Dames) sailing their last and final race at the 2015 St Barths Bucket Regatta. Sailing the “wrong way around” course meant the 35 competing superyachts launched their massive spinnakers at the start and took a clockwise tour of the island, testing sailing skills with a particularly lengthy beat up the backside. And though the superyachts, for safety’s sake, sail by rules that keep them at least 40 metres apart at all times, the competition was as close as anyone could wish for. Read More …
