Reichel-Pugh Yacht Design is seeking a Composite Structural Engineer

Reichel-Pugh Yacht Design is seeking a composite structures engineer / designer to join our team. Your responsibilities will include strength calculations for all aspects of our high performance composite yachts including first-principles hand calculation, creation and use of in-house developed programs, and finite element analysis utilizing Hyperworks.  In addition, you will develop laminate drawings and coordinate construction of components at boat yards around the world.  You will be part of a small, focused, agile team, working in close coordination with our Naval Architects, be self-motivated and able to work independently. Candidates must either be US Citizens, possess a US Work Permit or have Permanent Residency.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Structural or Composite Materials)
  • Proficient in the following software:
    AutoCAD 2-D drafting
    Solidworks 3-D modeling
    Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel with VBA

Familiarity with the following is also desired:

  • Composite scantling regulations and offshore design standards (ISO, ABS, DNV/GL, etc.)
  • Construction techniques for composite sandwich structures
  • Basic operations of offshore racing yachts (sailing experience a plus)

Reichel Pugh Yacht Design is seeking a qualified Naval Architect. Responsibilities include concept and detail design development of composite constructed yachts as well as project management through the construction of projects. The position requires working closing with our in house engineers and frequent communication with yard build teams, suppliers, clients and their representatives. Candidates must either be US Citizens, possess a US Work Permit or have Permanent Residency.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Naval Architecture.
  • Proficient in the following software:
    AutoCAD
    Rhino
    Solidworks
    Microsoft Office Suite

Familiarity with the following is also desired:

  • Lines fairing and stability software such as Fastship
  • Composite construction regulations and offshore design standards (ISO, ISAF Offshore Special Regs)
  • Rating Rules (IRC, ORC, ORR, etc.)
  • Basic operations of offshore racing yachts (sailing experience a plus)
