RP TP52 Near Miss Wins 2012 Giraglia Inshore Event

Congratulations to the owners and crews of the Reichel/Pugh designed yachts competing in the Giraglia Rolex Cup. After three days of dramatic inshore racing in challenging conditions with wind speeds reaching 35 knots the inshore portion of the event was concluded.

Franck Noël’s RP designed and Cookson Boats built TP52 Near Miss dominated the inshore event with three bullets in three races taking 1st in IRC Group A.

In IRC 0 the RP designed and Baltic Yachts built, canting keel 78’ Performance Cruiser Lupa of London, originally launched in 2000, took 2nd place overall.

Today was the start of the 60th edition of the 242nm La Giraglia Classic from Saint Tropez to San Remo.

In 2010 this offshore Classic was won overall by the R/P designed 72’ Mini Maxi Shockwave.  The course record set in 2008 is held by Neville Crichton’s 100’ R/P Maxi Alfa Romeo. Alfa Romeo 100, now called Esimit Europa 2, the line honors winner in 2010 and 2011, currently leads the 170 boat fleet to San Remo.

Highland Fling XI Wins 2012 Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta

Congratulations to the owners and crews of the Reichel/Pugh designed yachts competing in the 2012 Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta.

Organized by the YCCS and Boat International Media and first launched in 2008, this is the regatta that opens the Mediterranean superyacht calendar.

Lord Irvine Laidlaw’s RP designed and Goetz Boats built Wally RP82’ Maxi Highland Fling XI dominated the Performance Division scoring 4 bullets in 4 races to take 1st place overall.
