About the Palermo-Montecarlo Regatta
In 2015 the Palermo-Montecarlo Regatta was added to the IMA circuit – Mediterranean Maxi Off-shore Challenge, which brings together the ‘Rolex Middle Sea Race’, the ‘Volcano Race’ and the ‘Giraglia Rolex Club’. The offshore race is organized by Il Circolo della Vela Sicilia and Yacht club de Monaco, with the collaboration of Yacht Club Costa Smeralda. The fleet departs from the Gulf of Mondello crosses the Strait of Bonifacio and finishes at Monaco’s Bay. The Regatta record is held by Igor Simic’s Reichel/Pugh-designed maxi Esimit Europa 2 (now Black Jack Yachting) with a time of 47hrs – 46mins- 48secs set in 2015, which broke the previous record by one hour and fifteen minutes.
