Black Jack 2nd on Elapsed and 2nd on Corrected, takes 1st Place under ORCi             

2012 Audi Sydney Gold Coast Race 2012,     
July 28th -30th 2012, Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, Sydney-Australia, 384nm

Congratulations to the owners and crews of the Reichel/Pugh designed yachts competing in the 2012 Audi Sydney Gold Coast Race Offshore Classic.

Robert Oatley’s R/P designed and McConaghy Boats built 100’ Canting Keel Super Maxi WILD OATS XI took Line Honors and set a new course record of 22hrs, 3mins, 46sec. Wild Oats XI finished 3rd in IRC 0 and Overall in corrected time. Wild Oats XI knocked 5hrs 31min from the previous record set by Brindabella in 1999.

Stephen Ainsworth’s R/P designed/engineered and McConaghy Boats built 63’ Mini Maxi LOKI, was the Overall IRC Winner of the 2012 Audi Sydney Gold Coast Race by taking 1st in IRC0 and Overall. LOKI was 3rd yacht to finish and also broke the previous course record by finishing in 26h 52m 39s. LOKI is the new holder of the race record for conventionally ballasted yachts.

Peter Harburg’s R/P designed and Westerly Marine built 66’ Canting Keel Mini Maxi BLACK JACK was 2nd yacht to finish and also broke the previous course record by finishing in 26hrs 24m 2 sec. BLACK JACK won the ORCi Division 1 and Overall and took 2nd in IRC 0 and Overall.
